Karen Howell, RN, BSN | Registered Nurse
Ms. Howell completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University in 1993 with nomination to Sigma Theta Tau, a national honor society for Nurses. She began practicing nursing in the Intensive Coronary Care Unit, where she advanced with a focus on the critical care setting. Over a seven year period she worked as a charge nurse, preceptor to new nurses, and ultimately a nurse manager for both Medical and Coronary Intensive Care Units.
In addition to her clinical role in nursing, Ms. Howell has received certification as a Critical Care Registered Nurse from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She has both instructor and provider certification from the American Heart Association in Advanced Adult Cardiac Life Support. As an instructor, she is dedicated to teaching and keeping health care workers updated regarding standards in Advanced Adult Cardiac Life Support.
Ms. Howell has focused her critical care skills in Electrophysiology for the past seven years. She has specialized training for pacemaker and defibrillator interrogation and advanced arrhythmia interpretation.
Karen’s calm and confident demeanor are a clearly enhanced by her years in critical care areas and these are excellent attributes when working with patients in the field of electrophysiology. She has been an outstanding member of this team for the past 10 years.
